2020
2020 has to be one of the most hectic years I have lived in so far - everything has changed since COVID-19 surfaced. This year in the fashion world, the competition did not focus on the arts of it, but the comfort of it all, as everyone received a stay-at-home order. Masks and sunglasses became one of the most popular accessories for outings. I was able to experience an NYC without anybody in sight during self-isolation; I was fortunate enough to fly back home to China in June even though I quarantined twice; I also explored many parts of China that I was not able to because I was in the States for school for most of the year in a relatively COVID-19-free zone, such as Hangzhou, Yunnan, and Guangdong. Not only did the fashion apparels themselves change, the way of fashion shows also had a huge change. In December, I was blessed to have attended the Dior Fall Men fashion show in Beijing, and there were no models walking live, instead they were pre-recorded videos that were displayed on jumbotrons walking around the arena.
